What is the difference between CBD Isolate and CBD Distillate?

Making sense of the wide range of CBD products available can seem a daunting and confusing task. One of the things that is so great about the CBD industry is that it has a wide focus to ensure a perfect product for every person that wants to use CBD oil products as part of a healthy lifestyle.

CBD products are produced in a range of ways into a selection of products that can be eaten, applied to the skin, vaped, dropped under your tongue, splashed into your bathwater, or even popped into your cocoa to aid restful sleep…

The CBD oil that goes into these products is produced / extracted from the hemp plant in two different ways; these are as an isolate or as a distillate. Below is a brief explanation to help you choose which products may be best for your needs.

What is CBD Isolate?

Products containing CBD isolate are manufactured in a way that extracts every compound from the hemp to only leave the pure CBD behind; it literally ‘isolates’ the CBD.

Pure cannabidiol (CBD) isolate has no taste or smell because the compounds and elements that contain aroma and taste are removed during the CBD isolation. This makes isolate perfect for use in edible products such as oils, drinks, and gummies.

Many people that do not like the taste of CBD oil find that this is a perfect solution for them as they still get the positive feelings of wellbeing, without the distinct hemp oil flavour.

 What is CBD Distillate?

CBD products that are made from ‘distillate’, are manufactured in a way to retain the benefits of the entire hemp plant. Hemp contains terpenes which are the essential oils of the hemp plant, cannabinoids, and a range of plant-based compounds.

The science behind the benefits of CBD oil show that the way the different natural elements in hemp work together has a higher overall benefit to the product consumer. The different compounds interact to provide what is known as the ‘entourage effect’- or more simply, the combination of different oils and cannabinoids work better together than when taken separately.

CBD distillate contains cannabidiol, which is the most well known of the cannabinoids contained in hemp; but there are others!

CBN or Cannabinol, has a mildly sedative effect which is relaxing and calming, this is particularly helpful for insomnia sufferers.

CBC or Cannabichromene, has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-viral, and pain-relieving properties. CBC is particularly helpful to boost your immunity during the winter months and helps with migraines, anxiety, and depression. Often physical pain and discomfort increases feelings of despair, anxiety, and sadness, so this particular cannabinoid is an excellent addition to a healthy living routine.

CBG or Cannabigerol is another non-psychoactive compound of the hemp plant. CBG helps with pain, anxiety, depression, and muscle cramps.

CBD and mental health issues.

The evidence for CBD oil products, taken responsibly, as part of a nutritional supplement is understood to have a positive effect for sufferers of depression, seasonal affective disorder, anxiety, mood disorders, and a whole range of unwelcome effects that life throws at us.
