Quick Guide to CBD Oil Dosage

An increasing numbers of people are trusting the benefits of CBD Oil to approach their wellbeing needs in a more manageable and natural way. The psychoactive substance in Cannabis is called THC, and all our products are produced from a hemp strain that only contains trace amounts of this substance so you can use our CBD oil with no concerns about unwanted side effects; CBD oil is also completely legal for use in the UK.

One of the main concerns when thinking about using CBD for general wellbeing or for help with specific ailments, complaints, and symptoms, is how much oil is safe to use, and what will the side effects be.

How to get your Dosage of CBD Oil Right

As with all dietary supplements, balms, oils, and lotions, it is important to start with a low dose and build your use up to a desired level. The main reason for going slow is that if you suddenly introduce a powerful new oil into your diet, your digestion may be a little sensitive for a couple of days, so by taking it slowly you will give your body’s natural endocannabinoid system time to interact with the CBD for you to get maximum benefits. No one knows your body, or know how you feel, like you do. This is your CBD journey, and it is worth taking the time to start off in the best way, so start with a low dose, gently building the amount until you are using the CBD dosage of oil that is right for you. Only you will know what the right amount is.

Everyone’s metabolism is different, tolerance to pain and discomfort is different, body mass will also affect how much oil you will need - there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach but the following guidance should give you a good starting point.

This table shows the recommended amount of CBD oil to take orally daily and is calculated on body weight and three different dosing scenarios- low, moderate, and strong. A ‘low’ dose will be suitable for people wanting to improve and maintain their overall feelings of wellbeing, improve mental clarity, reduce mild stress and anxiety, or manage mild pain; however, a ‘moderate’ or ‘strong’ dose will be more useful to relieve more severe pain and inflammation associated with arthritis and joint pain, fatigue, long term or severe anxiety and depression, or reduce symptoms of chronic illness and disease.

For best results and tolerance to CBD it is suggested to split the daily suggested amount over 2 or 3 doses a day.

These amounts are only suggestions, and you may find you are satisfied with less, or that you wish to take more.  It could be tricky to measure some of these amounts therefore you will need to find the amount nearest to your goal dosage and tweak a little to find the perfect dose and product that meets your needs. The maximum recommended dose should not exceed 200mg per day, and please do check with your GP if you take prescription medication just to check they are safe to combine.

For weights over 100kg, simply add together the amounts for the combination of weights that total the kgs you require.

How to Use Lotions, Balms, and Salves

When using any lotion, oil, or cream for the first time it is always worth doing a  patch test 24 hours before using a larger quantity on the area you wish to treat, especially if using products on your face. A patch test simply means putting a small amount of the product in the fold of your elbow or behind your knee and after 24 hours checking for any adverse reaction. When you are happy with the result, you are ready to apply the product to the skin that needs extra care and nourishment.
